SEEKING FRIENDLY VISITORS: Aging in Hartland (AIH) has arranged for Senior Solutions to come to provide an orientation to be a Friendly Home Visitor on May 3rd from 4:00-6:00 pm at the Hartland Library. Senior Solutions describes the Friendly Visitor's role" is to provide caring companionship for the client through conversation, sharing of memories and interests, reading aloud, letter or note writing, games or cards, music, art projects, or anything else of interest to the client. A friendly visitor can provide transportation for medical appointments, grocery shopping and small errands,” as well as walks in nice weather if appropriate and help on a computer. Both people interested in becoming a volunteer friendly visitor as well as family and friends who have loved ones who are frail or have dementia would benefit from this workshop. Dear Church Family – We celebrated a glorious Easter morning – first gathering in the dark and quiet before dawn to experience that mysterious first Easter morning, then with the warmth and fellowship of a pancake breakfast and finally with a sanctuary full of joyous people singing, praising and joining in the wonder of the empty tomb.
Thank you to the choir for the extra rehearsals and wonderful music. And a special thank you to the amazing Ginny Dow and Becky Wood for their musical leadership! Thank you to Larry & Jeannie, Stuart and Joe for a delicious pancake breakfast (especially appreciated on a cold morning). And a Thank you to the great Paul Sawyer for braving the cold to play guitar and trumpet for the Easter Sunrise Service. It takes a village to celebrate Easter!!!
This Sunday we will hear the familiar story of Doubting Thomas from the Gospel of John 20. Do you have doubts? What do you need to see, to hear, to touch, to experience so that you too can believe? Why were the disciples hiding in fear? Are you hiding behind locked doors? Living in fear? Does it matter that Easter happened then and now? Join us Sunday to explore this story!
See you in church – Lucia
